About the Chalice Grand Prix

The Chalice Grand Prix is a 16 week competitive chess circuit where players and teams earn points to determine the winner of the Chalice Grand Prix.  Points are earned by playing in open or club tournaments, club matches or playing “Sanctioned Miniatures” referred to as “SanctiMinis” during the circuit. 

The circuit features 2 Open Tournaments, 2 Club Tournaments and a Chalice Tournament. Players must earn 16 Qualifying Points in order to participate in the ChaliceTournament which awards bonus Grand Prix Points to Qualifying Players. 

Players may compete in the Grand Prix and individuals or as a team.  Team scores will be tabulated using the scores of the 1^st top 4 players as a team.  Teams are limited to a maximum of eight players. 

Grand Prix points are tabulated at the conclusion of the Final Open Tournament where Individual and Team winners will be awarded trophies and prizes.

There are 4 divisions for teams and individuals - Primary Ages 6 to 9 in grades K-3, Youth Ages 10 to 14 grades 4-8, High school ages 15 to 18 and an adult league for individuals 18 or older.

Below is the weekly schedule of tournaments and Saturday Club dates. Throughout the Circuit players will receive notifications about other Tuesday night "Pop Up" events throughout Chattanooga where players can meet to participate and play "SanctiMinis" earning Qualifying and Grand Prix Points for their team.
